Backflow Prevention

Protect your water supply by eliminating cross connections. Install a backflow prevention device.

Device Installations, Repairs and Inspections

Aqua can help you avoid cross-contamination of the public water supply by installing a backflow prevention device. If you have an existing device, Aqua can test the device annually.

Backflow Prevention Program Management

In addition to the above, Aqua can help keep your system compliant with regulations. Aqua can provide total program management for municipalities and commercial establishments.

Background Information

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines a cross-connection as a point in the distribution system (piping) where non-potable water can be introduced to potable sources. All service lines connected to public water systems are potential cross-connections.

Your current water distribution system is designed so that water flows from the water main through a service line to your site. However, certain conditions can cause water to flow from your plumbing back into the distribution system and the local public water supply, creating a potentially hazardous incident.

As a matter of public safety, federal law requires the installation of backflow prevention devices on all water services in order to prevent potential harmful contamination. Periodic testing of certain backflow prevention devices is also required.
